HCS incorporates computers and technology in the classroom through our rigorous curriculum and with various individual and group projects using both the Microsoft Suite and Google Classroom. Students, parents, and staff are asked to sign a Digital Citizenship contract to ensure appropriate and responsible use of technology and to adhere to the Godly guidelines outlined by HCS. In addition, in order to create a safe environment for our school, HCS employs the assistance of the Cyber Safety Cop to educate our parent community and our students in junior high and high school to empower them to safely engage online.

Technology for Grades K-6th students

In our elementary classrooms, each is equipped with Chromebooks for daily student use. Technology is integrated thoughtfully throughout the curriculum as a tool for learning, allowing students to research, create, collaborate, and practice skills in meaningful, interactive ways that enhance understanding, engagement, and problem-solving. This addition supports students in exploring concepts more deeply and engaging with their learning in ways that complement our Christ-centered academic program.

Technology for JH/HS Students

Technology is thoughtfully integrated into the classroom to enhance learning, collaboration, and creativity. Students use computers for research, writing, problem-solving, and project-based learning, while teachers leverage technology to personalize instruction and support diverse learning styles. Our approach emphasizes responsible and purposeful technology use, equipping students with essential digital skills while maintaining a healthy balance that supports academic focus and personal growth.

AI

HCS aims to establish guidelines for the responsible and ethical use of AI programs, including ChatGPT, in our learning environment. The use of AI programs can enhance our educational experience when used appropriately and with prior teacher approval. However, if used incorrectly, the use of ChatGPT and other tools can severely limit the potential learning goals for students. We embrace the use of AI programs in our classroom as a means to enhance our learning experiences. However, it is crucial to maintain the integrity of our academic work and follow ethical guidelines. Prior teacher approval is necessary for any AI-related activities, and all assignments created with AI assistance are subject to a verbal review. By adhering to these guidelines, we can harness the power of AI to support our educational journey responsibly and effectively.

HCS JH & HS classroom teacher integrates the use of computers into their classroom curriculum. Students will utilize Google Classroom to streamline assignments, boost collaboration, and foster communication. Therefore, students will need to have a computer for day-to-day academic activities.

HCS is a Bring Your Own Laptop (BYOL) school for JH & HS. School laptops are not issued to students by HCS. All students must provide their own laptop that meets the minimum computer requirements. Students must also adhere to the Digital Citizenship Guidelines outlined within our JH/HS handbook under Behavior Standards for Student Success.
